Press Release Body: SMART Repairs, what are they I hear you ask?

SMART repair techniques have been developed to help maintain a vehicle in pristine
condition without traditional expensive time consuming body shop repairs. It lends
itself well to repairing scuffs, chips and scratches that affect the look and value
of a vehicle. SMART repair techniques use state of the art techniques and products
technicians ensure the highest standards of work, preserving the integrity of the
original paintwork. These techniques have been used by garages for many years, but
are still relatively unknown with car owners.

Alloy Wheel Repair

The cost of replacing factory fitted alloys can be prohibitive; but not to worry,
most typical alloy wheel kerb scuffs and scratches can be removed by an alloy wheel
refurbishment specialist.
The damaged area on the wheel is sanded down, sometime filled and repainted to match
the existing colour without leaving a mark. Often it is possible to repair the alloy
wheel without even removing the tyre.

Dashboard Repair

Unsightly phone installation holes in dashboards can be made to disappear by
filling, replicating the original texture and re-colouring the area.

If any part of the interior trim is scratched, cracked or damaged, then it is highly
likely that it can be repaired rather than replaced.

Bumper Repair

Whether the plastic bumper is textured or painted, the paint colour and finish can
be matched and the repair will be unnoticeable.

The same SMART repair techniques can be applied to scuffed, scratched or cracked
plastic mirrors and door mouldings as well as any plastic body panels of motorbikes,
quad bikes and jet skis regardless of the finish.

Fabric Repair

Common fabric upholstery problems include cigarette burns, rips and general wear and
tear on fabric seat covers and carpets in cars and in hard worked vans. These burn
holes and tears will affect the look and value of the vehicle, but can be quickly
repaired to very high standards.

The fabric repair specialist will carefully cut away the damaged area keeping this
as small as possible. A mix of small fibres will then be carefully blended to match
the surrounding fabric of the vehicle seat cover or carpet. The repair area will be
backed with a lining fabric and then the area will be built up with the fibres and a
bonding solution, until the repair is level and complete.

Leather Repair

It is not just Porsches, BMWs and Audis that have leather interior trim; many cars
these days have leather seats, door panels, steering wheel covers and gear lever
gaitors. Whether scratched, scuffed or worn, these leather items can be
professionally repaired and re-coloured. This is much cheaper than replacing the
leather finish.
SMART repair craftsmen have many techniques developed to solve many issues with
leather trim. This can be applied to car seats, door panels and leather trim to
refresh and renew. The scratches, scuffs and even cigarette burns in the leather can
be filled and retextured. These areas can then be re-painted to match the
surrounding leather. Worn areas of leather can also be revived to match the rest of
the leather.

Paint Scratch Repair

Scuffs and scratches on wheel arches, wings, door moulding and mirror housings are
usually rubbed down, primed and repainted using paint mixed to exactly match the
vehicle's original colour. Having blended the paint into the surrounding area, a
fast curing lacquer is then applied and finally the panel is polished. When a good
repair has been completed, the original scuff, chip or scratch will be invisible.

Paintless Dent Removal

Paintless Dent Removal, often referred to as PDR, is a unique dent removal technique
that removes all types of minor dings and dents without damaging the panel.

If the paint has not been damaged, then a highly skilled operator will gradually
'massage' the dent until it is back to the original shape. Ideal for hail stone
storm dents, shopping trolley dents, even golf ball accidents!

Windscreen Repair

Windscreen chips and scratches can be unsightly and depending on their position
impair vision and possibly result in MOT failure.
The cracks, chips and bulls-eyes are thoroughly cleaned, a vacuum is created to suck
out moisture and air before the damaged is filled with resin. UV-Light technology is
used to harden the resin. The windscreen is then cleaned of excess resin and the
area polished flat.

Stone Chip Repair

Depending on the extent of the damage, touching in with a brush will cover the
damage and prevent future rust problems. However, there are situations where SMART
repair techniques are the only cost effective solution to restore the paintwork to
its original condition.
The chips and scuffs are rubbed down, primed and repainted using colour matched
paint. When a good repair has been made, it will go un-noticed.
